How to Shine in 2009

It’s time to rethink the old methodology of New Year’s Resolutions. Forget about taking the traditional vow to quit a bad habit, or to start a new and better habit. These typical resolutions sound wonderful, but they rarely bear good fruit throughout the year.

Losing weight, controlling a temper, giving up a nasty habit, or vowing to save more money, are all respectable and admirable resolutions that have one thing in common. If accomplished, you will be a better person by the end of the year.

There must be an easier way!

There is an easier way!

We should focus on enhancing the whole person. If we can make changes at the very core of our being that enable us to shine not only as individuals, but as citizens of the earth, we can help everyone to shine in 2009.

As we work on becoming a better person, we will gradually lose the bad habit cravings in a more natural way, according to our thoughts and our energy.

I started by sitting down with pen and paper, and then asked myself the following questions…

1) How can you honor this gift of life? How can you live a calmer, richer and fuller life?

2) What kind of person do you want to be?

3) What do you want people to say or think about you when you’re gone?

4) What are your passions in life? Are you honoring those passions? How can you honor them and become your true authentic self?

5) What do you really want to achieve or become during the next year?

You can add whatever questions you feel coming from your soul. As you sit down ready to ask yourself questions, take a deep cleansing breath to release any tension. Take another breath and prayerfully meditate on the task before you…. How can I shine in 2009?

As you go over these questions, it isn’t necessary to write down every single response. You can sometimes have several thoughts that can be encompassed with one carefully thought out sentence or statement.

Later we’ll discuss ways to help you monitor your progress throughout the year.

Happy New Year!

Go forth and shine in 2009!

Thanks to AffirmingSpirit.com for pointing out that my comments weren’t working.

Here is her comment:

Great ideas, Sandra. I usually suggest people start with resolutions to create affirmations to shift their mindset first (line up the energy before taking action). However, some people still have too much resistance or emotional attachment to the things they want to change.

Focusing on ways to be a better person and more authentic person makes the process easier, and is another approach to shifting consciousness. Once their consciousness shifts, the experiences that no longer work for them will fall away!
