Obama and Oprah
As I was browsing through blogs via Entrecard, I couldn’t help but notice a trend that I have also noticed over at Facebook… a trend which is fed by misguided Christians who believe it is their duty, obligation and/or God-given right to condemn those they do not agree with.
Many are accused of worshipping Obama, yet these accused people have never claimed to worship him. Indeed, all of these well-meaning accusers are basing their opinion on the media coverage – that is all.
Obama has not ever compared himself to Christ. So why are so many Christians speaking against him instead of fulfilling their Christian duty by praying for our nation’s leader?
Oprah has helped more people on this planet than many entire denominations of the protestants, yet the Christians have labelled her as a new-age danger and threat to Christianity.
This is absurd.
God has not called us to condemnation of others. He alone is their judge.
It would be nice if the thousands of people who claim Christianity would get busy about the business of God as instructed to us in the book of Matthew. I dare say that if they were all out and about feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and imprisoned, and taking care of the homeless and the orphans, then they just might not have as much time to devote to judgement and condemnation.
President Obama is a Christian by his own statement. We should be thrilled to have a Christian in the Presidential office. It is not our duty to judge him. However, I have found no offense in him as a Christian, or as a public servant.
Oprah also claims to be Christian. If we are to judge a tree by its fruit, then she certainly continues to fulfill the teachings of Jesus on a much longer yardstick than those who condemn her.
God bless them both and may God have mercy on those who continue to spread evil and chaos via their obscene tongue. May God intervene on our behalf and stop their nonsense.
God bless the poor, the hungry, those who take care of them, and may God bless America.
