The Game of Life
If life is a game, which game would it be?
Baseball, Monopoly, a Cross Country event, or a Marathon?

The following thoughts came to me while listening to Dale Allen Hoffman as a guest of Carol Guy and Gary Moore on Blog Talk Radio. (See links at end of post.)
Guy mentioned that life can be like a baseball game, where the Creator predefined the parameters within the field.
My first thought was that if life is a game, it’s more like the game of Monopoly. There are the rich and the poor, the lucky roll of the dice and the unlucky roll of the dice, those in jail, etc., etc.
My second thought was that life is more like a cross country track team event. Everyone runs at their own pace, while still trying to be the winner. There are obstacles to overcome along the way such as water (as in photo), or sand. Some collapse from exhaustion, some get injured and fall by the wayside, some finally make it but arrive in great suffering and exhaustion. Only one is declared a winner.
My final thought: Maybe life is more like a marathon.
A marathon has all types of people participating. Some of them are struggling to regain confidence in themselves after an injury or illness. Some of them just feel the need to finish something without quitting. Some of them participate with a group of supporters to rally them on their way when the going gets tough. Some of them are there all alone, proving something to no one but themselves. Some of them are running with friends.
The marathon provides workers who have put up the proper signs to guide us, and even give sustenance along the way.
The main objective of the marathon is to get to the finish line. Sure, there is a winner, but winning is not the main objective for most of the runners.
The marathon still has predefined parameters. The supporters and workers in the marathon symbolize our family, friends and guardian angels who are always there to help us, even when we have forgotten about them.
The marathon is my best analogy so far.
What say you?
