This sounds too simple to be true, but if you try it out right away you will notice that it is not really a comfortable position at first.

It certainly doesn’t hurt, but it’s just not a normal position, which just goes to show how far off balanced we, as humans, have allowed our bodies to become.

I will definitely keep this up as I am looking forward to the end results, even though I think my posture is okay right now. I know that as we age, we become more and more susceptible to poor posture.

In less than two weeks, I saw a marked improvement in my posture. I also noticed a general feeling of more openness in my chest. It felt easier to breathe.

Harmony of Self Image and Weight

Many people struggle with weight issues, and I am among them. I have owned nearly every piece of exercise equipment the fitness gurus have come up with but I lack the motivation to exercise regularly.

Last year, I used Reiki to help myself lose 25 pounds. Over the next year, I gained 15 of those pounds back. The stresses of college took precedence over my health.

This week, I started remembering what it was like to be lean and thin, and healthy. By healthy I just mean able to walk across the parking lot loaded down with bags of groceries without getting winded. Although I would love to be able to do more than that, just being able to enter the apartment without gasping for air and then heading for the couch when the groceries are put away, would be a drastic improvement.

ANAHEIM, CA - MAY 07: Dancer Maksim Chmerkovs...

I remembered how much I loved to dance when I was younger. As I started thinking about it, I realized that I went dancing at least three nights a week, and danced around the house a bit too. Hmmm.

I record “Dancing With The Stars” so my daughter and I can watch it together as her busy schedule permits. So, I started – this week – playing the show every morning and DANCING along with them! It is so much fun! Mind you, I don’t dance LIKE them, I just dance WITH them. Also, I don’t last for very long, yet.

When the slow songs come on, I take advantage of yoga stretches which are more fun when set to music. I attempt to rekindle dances of ages past when the fast songs are playing, and luckily no one is home to see my performance.

It has been remarkable to watch the transformations of some of the dancing stars, such as Kirstie Alley, shown with her teacher, Maksim (my favorite!) in the photo on the right. You may be aware that Kirstie has tried and temporarily succeeded to lose weight using many different techniques, but dancing seems to be the one that has worked the longest.

I have HOPE that this is going to work for me, but this morning I realized I still needed to work on my cravings.

I found a wonderful article on food versus fuel, body image and self image, and health in general that resonated within me. There are a few practices one can do to fully understand their relationship with food and discover what the body – each individual body – really needs for fuel.

This information is shamanic elder wisdom provided by ThunderStrikes, and I encourage you to read the full article here.

New Moon – New Cycle – New Dreams

Today is the new moon of February, which apparently is in Aquarius, which apparently means it is one of the more powerful new moon cycles of the year. I love astrology, but I actually know very little about the many details of it, which is why I include “apparently” so often.

The new moon starts a new cycle culminating in the full moon, which, by the way, is a great time to release what you do not need in your life – just before you start the new moon cycle and ceremony to help attract the future you want for yourself and your loved ones.

New Moon = New Cycle of Life = Time for New Dreams

So, any time today would be a wonderful time to embark on a new plan, a new dream, a new goal, a new love, or a new attitude.

New Moon ceremonies should not upset anyone of any religion or faith. Just as we prepare and celebrate the ending/beginning of a new year, we can and should do the same each month. It is a healthy way to stay on top of our priorities and a way to give more power to our wishes and hearts’ desires.

Some say you should create a sacred space by starting with a prayer, burning incense or sage, etc., and then write a list of things or events that you wish to manifest in the coming month. The list can be just one thing, some say it should be 10 things, and others say there is no limit to the number of intentions you can have on your list.

You can have this ceremony alone, or with another or with a group. You can read your wish list aloud or silently. You can pretty much construct this habit however you wish, just so it feels right to you.

If you are or were seeing a therapist, you know that one of the things many of them “hound” you about is “what do you want”… out of life, in a career, in a relationship, etc and etc. So, save yourself some money and heal thyself. You have the power within you to discover who you really are and what you really want.

Do this each month and see what happens. Pay attention. Keep a journal and rewrite your list every new moon.

Another “Abundance Ceremony” which many participate in is writing the abundance check. The check is payable to you, and the amount is written as “Paid in Full.” Some say the payer of the check is you also, but I prefer to consider the source as the Creator. That way I can nurture a more grateful attitude which is also important. You can use a real check or write it as a note, or you can print out some pre-made abundance checks in the link below.
